Ministry Stories

One of the people that got in touch with our office lets us know about her Christian experience.

My name is Maria Eugenia, I am 36 years old, I was born in the city of Maracaibo, and at a very early age in my life, I started to walk on the wrong ways, turning my life into a life with many difficulties and lots of personal vices, like cigarette and marihuana smoking, and alcohol drinking, that started to destroy my life physically and spiritually. Everything was a disaster zone and I felt very empty inside, with a deep loneliness that produced anguish and made me very sad. While on this situation, and in the midst of my frustration, a friend of mine that was attending to the talks of the Lutheran Hour office, invited me to take part of these activities.

As of that time, through these talks, as well as through personal counseling, Bible courses, and the spiritual company offered by the Lutheran Hour people, my life began to change. With the Bible Courses I felt that Jesus was the answer to my life and I accepted His call that He was offering to me by means of the Holy Bible and the help of the Holy Spirit. Ever since then I felt that God had accepted me as His child, and that produced in me a deep desire to change by means of His power, and to consecrate my life in the path that he was showing me.

Today, I give thanks to God and wonder, “What would have happened to my life without Jesus?” Right now I am part of a Christian congregation that offers me love and guidance to my life. I am happy and I thank my God, and ask Him to always sustain my spiritual life.

MINISTRY STORIES

Maruja, One of our contacts tells us about her Christian experience:
I was born in the midst of a Christian family in the city of San Fernando, Apure State. I always remember how excited I was when Sundays came because of the classes that we shared on Sunday School.
I separated from church alter I got married because my husband was a Business man and we had to travel a lot because of that, and never had the time to go to church.
One day, alter a medical check-up, my doctor found that I had breast cancer, and as a result I had this part of my body totally removed. Everything went on as always alter this. We had a lot of work and better income, but the same worries as ever.
While I was pretty busy with social activities and work, I started to feel very tired and with a bad back pain. After examination and gone through several tests ordered by my doctors, they discovered that a cancer had appeared on my right lung. Doctors told me that I only had seven months of life.
My whole family and I were disappointed about life and God, who we started to blame for all.
One day a friend of mine told me about the Lutheran Hour and the great Christian support they offered to suffering people. I got in touch with them right away, and they started to come to visit me, and to help me through their advice, prayers and Bible Studies. I asked them to pray for me. One month later, I got the results of some more tests and they showed that the cancer had started to decrease. With tears in my eyes I knelt down before God and thanked Him for what was happening. Two months later the cancer was in remission.
Now my mouth and my heart speak about the Christian message to many people, because the Lord has granted me some more time to live. I belong to a Christian church and I never tired of witnessing about the work of Christ in my life, and I asked the Divine Master that I be brought to His presence when He determines. I thank God because I went back to His paths and He once again granted me His forgiveness, and sustains me in my spiritual life by means of His grace.
